1945 – 1977

Re-evacuation of museum collections was finished.
The museum collection numbered 2041710 objects.


Thirty rooms covered the period from the earliest times till the first half of the 19th century were opened for visitors.


Exhibition «Defeat of Fritz near Moscow.1941-1942».


Fine art restorers A.D.Korin and K.A.Fedorov under I.E.Grabar’s supervision restored a V.M.Vasnetsov’s panel-painting “Stone Age”.


An exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of A.V.Oreshnikov’s day of birth was opened.


According the decree of the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR, the museum acquired a right in gratuitous receiving of samples of issued orders, medals, coins, decorations and currency note of the USSR.


A full re-exposition was finished, all rooms of the museum covered the period since the earliest times till the 19th century were opened.


An ancient boat (by III thousand BC) found in the village Shchuch’ye of the Voronezh Region was exhibited in the archaeological room №4.


A Belarus archaeological historical and social expedition (headed by S.G.Fedorova) was accomplished.


The museum realized 13 archaeological historical and social expeditions and purposed to collect material on history of the 20th century.


February, 1972
For the big contribution to the development of historical science and in connection with its 100th anniversary, the State Historical Museum was awarded the order Lenin.


In Berlin, in the Museum of German history, it was opened an exhibition “From the remote past”.


May, 1977
The State Historical Museum welcomed the guests of the General Conference ICOM that passed in Moscow and Leningrad.
